Laura Accurso is a recognized professional and business leader with over 20 years of experience in a wide array of fiduciary, legal, regulatory and corporate governance matters across multiple jurisdictions and industries, for both private and public companies. Laura has served as a trusted advisor to clients and boards utilising her extensive experience in capital markets, restructuring transactions, joint venture transactions, strategic investments, ESG, litigation, crisis management and enterprise risk analysis and alignment.

As Chief Banking Officer and General Counsel at FundBank, Laura is responsible for driving the strategic planning and overall direction of the bank, ensuring compliance with operating policies and regulatory requirements. Laura also provides legal advice where necessary and provides a robust legal framework to support the bank with legal matters including contract reviews and regulatory findings. In addition, Laura provides support and advice to the compliance and risk team in all legal aspects of Cayman Islands regulatory matters.

Prior to joining FundBank, Laura served as the Group General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Corporate Secretary for Greenlight Capital Re, Ltd. (NASDAQ: GLRE), Greenlight Reinsurance, Ltd. and Greenlight Reinsurance Ireland, DAC. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team and advisor to the Board of Directors of Greenlight Capital Re, Ltd. as well as the committees of the board including Investment, Audit, Compensation, Underwriting, and Nominating and Governance, Laura advised and managed all legal, tax and regulatory matters. In her capacity as CCO, Laura implemented the compliance program across the organization and ensured compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions including the U.S., the Cayman Islands, Ireland and the U.K. Laura was also responsible for ensuring compliance with the corporate governance framework and policies and served as the Head of the ESG Committee.

Before relocating to the Cayman Islands in 2010, Laura served as an attorney in the Insurance and Financial Services group at Sidley Austin LLP, a leading international law firm, and was resident in the New York office. Prior to this, Laura practiced commercial litigation with boutique New York firms. Laura commenced her legal career as a Law Clerk at the New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division, Fourth Department where she advised the appellate court justices on both private and commercial cases.

Laura is a member of the American Bar Association, New York Bar Association, Law Society of England and Wales and the Cayman Islands Legal Practitioners Association and maintains her license to practice in New York and the Cayman Islands. Laura received her J.D. degree from Syracuse University School of Law and her B.A. degree from McGill University and completed an executive education program at NYU Stern School of Business. Laura is fluent in both Italian and French.
